Documentation

The language today.

This overview names verified capabilities. It does not replace the normative specification or authorize future syntax.

Current values and expressions

  • Strings, numbers, booleans, and explicit efu absence
  • Mutable variables with compile-time undefined-name checks
  • Arithmetic, grouping, unary minus, and strict comparisons
  • Boolean-only logical operators with short-circuit evaluation
  • Homogeneous arrays and typed objects

Control flow and functions

  • ọ bụrụ conditions with optional ọzọ
  • mgbe loops with nearest-loop kwụsị and gaa n'ihu
  • ọrụ declarations, parameters, calls, and laghachi
  • One inferred signature per function

Modules

  • Named imports and exports using webata, bupụ, and site na
  • Canonical relative .kwe paths contained by the project root
  • Dependency-first execution, cycle rejection, and read-only imports
  • Reserved kwechiri: modules for official Standard Library APIs

Runtime and diagnostics

Kwechiri currently generates JavaScript with an injected runtime dependency. Node.js is the first host. Compile-time and runtime errors carry source location and category information.

Not implemented or not authorized

  • Browser execution and DOM APIs
  • Recursion, closures, and first-class functions before 1.0
  • maka collection iteration
  • Collection methods, spread syntax, and computed properties
  • Import aliases, re-exports, packages, and remote modules
  • Public npm publication and 1.0 compatibility guarantees
