Language purpose
A language should fit its community.
Kwechiri begins from Igbo identity and builds a coherent programming language around it. Translation is not the design model.
Igbo first is a design constraint.
An Igbo-first language should be readable and teachable for Igbo speakers without reducing the engineering quality of the compiler, runtime, diagnostics, or tools. Technical correctness matters when literal translation and coherent semantics conflict.
That means Kwechiri owns its language contract: keywords, expression behavior, types, control flow, function semantics, modules, standard APIs, errors, and compatibility policy all belong to Kwechiri rather than to accidental JavaScript behavior.
Professional and beginner-friendly are compatible goals.
Clear for learners
Strict types and located diagnostics help a new programmer understand what happened and where.
Built for real tools
Explicit compiler stages, tests, versioned specifications, and ADRs keep behavior reviewable.
Interoperable without surrendering identity.
Kwechiri currently compiles to JavaScript and runs on Node.js through an explicit runtime boundary. That implementation choice preserves a path to modern ecosystems without making JavaScript the language definition.

Some language foundations, modules, and the first Standard Library batch are certified. Browser execution, VS Code support, final terminology, packaging, licensing, and 1.0 compatibility are not complete.
